Our investment in Milk Moovement

Milk Moovement provides actionable intelligence across the entire dairy supply chain

We are excited to announce that Matchstick Ventures Fund II has completed an investment in Milk Moovement. Milk Moovement’s proprietary software tracks all milk shipments from producers to processing plants and delivers real-time quality and quantity information to producers, processors, transporters, and cooperatives.

Background

Dairy is a global business. Its broad appeal to consumers makes it one of the largest agricultural commodities. Despite its size, the dairy industry still relies on legacy, disparate technologies, such as pen and paper, to support its supply chain.

Many stakeholders play roles in the dairy supply chain. These stakeholders include, but are not limited to, producers, cooperatives, processors, and transporters. Traditionally, each player operates independently on their own data sets, making it difficult to solve problems and find efficiencies. Milk Moovement connects these stakeholders to provide actionable intelligence across the entire dairy supply chain.

As the global dairy market continues to grow, fueled by rising demand in Asian markets, the need for a fully integrated, digital supply chain becomes paramount for success in the industry. Milk Moovement will be the dairy supply chain tool at the forefront of the industry’s success.

Company Specifics

Founded in 2018, Milk Moovement is a rapidly expanding dairy SaaS company with offices in Canada and the United States. Milk Moovement is currently in a period of tremendous growth with established clients across Canada, the US, and Australia, and a mandate to further expand globally. Its proprietary software tracks all milk shipments from producers to processing plants and delivers real-time quality and quantity information to producers, processors, transporters, and cooperatives. With Milk Moovement, dairy cooperatives and processors can eliminate administrative time by up to 85%.

Co-Founders Rob Forsythe and Jon King have a background in both the supply chain and dairy industries. The duo met while completing their Commerce degrees. Their prior work and educational experiences gave them the perspective needed to disrupt the dairy supply chain. We met both Co-founders via the Techstars Farm to Fork accelerator, where Ryan served as their lead mentor. Both co-founders split their time between their Canadian offices (Halifax, NS and St. John's, NL) and their US office (Minneapolis, MN).
