We're Hiring a Head of Network

Matchstick helps startups strike. We are a pre-seed and seed stage venture capital fund, investing in the most ambitious tech founders with connections to the Rockies or North regions. In addition to investing capital, we connect our founders to a network of hundreds of experts, startup founders, co-investors, and leaders to help them solve problems, make connections and access resources. We are hiring for a Head of Network who will be responsible for organizing, promoting, and facilitating connectivity within our network — including founders, mentors, investors, talent and other members of our ecosystems. This relationship-driven role will create more dynamic networks and programs at Matchstick to enhance our ability to learn from and connect with each other. This role requires defining the network strategy, forming meaningful connections across our network, and translating these initiatives into a platform that further supports our founders, partners, and communities. 

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our portfolio companies to determine areas of need and support
• Develop strategies and initiatives to increase network member engagement
• Organize and design in-person events, virtual events, webinars, large scale summits, and intimate group meet-ups that facilitate connectivity across our founders and ecosystems
• Establish meaningful relationships across the “Matchstick Posse,” serving as the firm’s point of contact for this mentor network
• Identify topics that resonate with our founder network for ongoing touchpoints and event-based themes and ideas
• Develop engaging content and collaborate closely with our operations team for distribution
• Support onboarding Portfolio Companies into our network, leveraging Matchstick’s founder resources and active approach with our founders 
• Assist in special projects related to the firm’s overall operations 

Qualifications

• Preference for candidates based in either Colorado or Minnesota but open to remote candidates as well
• Interest in and experience working with startups and startup communities
• Experience, (ideally 5+ years but open to hustlers earlier in their career), in a relationship-driven role with community-building experience, events and marketing-driven work, sales, or managing client-focused programs
• Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to build rapport with a wide variety of personalities
• A people person who brings a network together, with a strong emotional intelligence and low ego
• Clear and effective communicator, both oral and written, with the understanding of how to leverage our network while maintaining our core values
• Comfort with public speaking in virtual and in-person formats
• Aptitude for building and maintaining professional relationships with previous experience working with executives at a senior level 
• Knowledge and background in the tech and venture capital industry
• Comfortable working independently with little-to-no direction
• Humble, hungry to grow and lead, happy, honest
